The Price of Freedom: Polish Losses During World War II

On Thursday, September 14, 2023, a poignant moment of remembrance unfolded within the hallowed halls of the Palace of Westminster as the Independent Research Team, in collaboration with the Central&Eastern European Council and British Poles, inaugurated the exhibition, “The Price of Freedom: Polish Losses During World War II.” This profound initiative sought to commemorate and illuminate the colossal sacrifices endured by Poland and its citizens at the hands of the Germans during the Second World War.

At the opening ceremony, presided over by Editor George Byczyński of British Poles, impassioned voices resonated throughout the venue. Mr. Daniel Kawczynski, Member of Parliament, Ambassador Piotr Wilczek, Representative of the Republic of Poland in the United Kingdom, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Arkadiusz Mularczyk, Mr. Justin Maciejewski, Director of the National Army Museum in London, and Mr. Paweł Pawłowski, Chairman of the Board of the Independent Research Team, along with Mr. Eliasz Grubiński, Chairman of the Board of the Central&Eastern European Council, all lent their voices to this significant event.

This exhibition, held under the Honorary Patronage of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices endured by the Polish people during a tumultuous chapter in history. Through the collective efforts of the Independent Research Team and British Poles, the narrative of Poland’s resilience and the enduring spirit of those who faced adversity head-on are unveiled, fostering an understanding of the profound price paid for freedom.
